Narnia: A Christian Tale of Transcendental Proportions in a Child's Life
Once upon a Lion walked these grounds...
Now in ancient alchemy symbols the Lion was thought to be the
soul that was purified. A state we can all attain which now
thanks to Maslow we call self actualization. Gold was the goal
after slowly apply heat to the lead of our soul. The color of
the sun that gave light upon the world equally, as so did the
son of God.
But lift that stone, and there you will find me said Christ
according to Thomas. But lift that mane and you will see your
own face staring back at you. But whose face stands beneath the
Tiara of Ice? Why it is yours as well. We all have the potential
to be Christ or devil within us, but it is for us to embrace the
one we choose. So choose wisely. But what makes us choose one
over the other?
Edmund the one who disavows her sisters story about the
fantastical world on the other side of the wardrobe is persuaded
to sell out the children of Eve for a few bites of Turkish
delight that never reach the spot. Leaving him in the clutches
of the White Witch in hopes she comes through with her bargain
against his better instincts. For his instincts is that which
Aslan or Christ has given each of us, but it is a quiet subtle
voice that never roars as loud as our egos. In Jungian
psychology the speak about the mother who finds herself
inadequate to give her children the comfort they need. She in
turn or the child finds out on their own that the chemicals in
certain food can provide , although a cheap one at best,
substitute. Also following fairy tale tradition this witch is
the compartmentalized harmful side of the borderline mother.
Also being the feminine, robs the child of its instincts that
women find more accessible than men at times. She robs the child
of its belief in its feelings and action or voice to receive
better. Creating just another lost voice in the dark cave.
Peter plays the contrast of the hero who empowers himself to
empower the others. But seeing that C.S. Lewis was a Christian
adept, Peter is such a poor name. But any who, Peter stands for
the engaged hero aspect of the ego in its beneficial whole role
as the discerns and protector. Lucy plays the impractical nature
of being always in the dream state resolving to impetuous
behavior. Susan checks her with the slow prodding of the
protective mother bear that guards her steps with her children
with her nose always in the air. But each balances the other and
even finds use for Edmund's trickery in the end.
The animals of the world follow the tribal traditions found
throughout the world, especially in the native cultures of North
America. Before the despoiled world of man was that of the
animals who walked and talked like man does today. Also C.S.
lewis could of meant this as a parallel to the Gospel of
Niccodemus saying that their was salvation for the pagans that
his old friend Tolkien much preferred. But not without saying
with right thought, they even worshiped Christ in shape of Aslan.
As for Aslan's sacrifice, for all good things there is a price.
In Hindu mythology there is a god each to create, preserve, and
destroy that is to be found harmful. When the White Witch asks
for Aslan blood to save Edmund, it is a right deal. If one has a
cup of poison filled to the brim, would not one have to empty it
before they can receive clean water? But in any case the glass
is never lost, for when you sacrifice, you only loose what was
never yours in the first place. But it might be as endearing as
watching maggots eat the dead flesh of your skin leaving only
the living tissue clean. To many like Edmund this sacrifice
could be that of alcohol, drugs, a wife, or a job that only
brought harm after short delight that brings only pain in the
end as the delight shrinks as the hope of that thrill grows to
tantamount steeps. One is left chasing a dragon that never was.
But many give up as the palms of the oasis bear on the horizon.
The battle is the last five minutes of any sacrifice of the will
to health. It is the last five minutes of the Heroine addict
going cold turkey for life. The battle is that of self
destruction delivered from the borderline mother's womb or self
esteem from the lion roar in your head that finally speaks out
and loud at the oppression of the bow that broke. The slings and
arrows are the real blasts one feels in the flesh and the fear
of the heart taking the leap of faith to ones self.
Do you have what it takes.......
